Supporting the Fresenius Medical Care-CKD Data Registry, a CMS-qualified PQRI registry, Acumen PQRI™ facilitates efficient reporting of the nephrology quality measures to CMS. In fact, in 2009, hundreds of nephrology providers reported quality measures using Acumen PQRI™. The majority of these providers chose to report on the chronic kidney disease (CKD) measures group for 30 CKD stage 4 and 5 patients. The remaining providers opted to report on either the diabetes mellitus measures group or on individual CKD measures. The reporting process was very simple and only required a couple of hours of staff time per provider to complete.
The 2010 reporting criteria for measures groups have been simplified by CMS. Providers may select any 30 eligible patients to report on if at least two patients are Medicare part B beneficiaries. Not having to select consecutive patients substantially simplifies the reporting process. Also new this year is the opportunity to report participation in the CMS e-prescribing initiative via a qualified PQRI Registry.
Acumen PQRI™ offers e-prescribing reporting in 2010 in addition to the CKD and diabetes mellitus measures groups as well as the following individual PQRI measures:
