Acumen Meaningful Use
The Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Records Incentive Program (also known as the Meaningful Use program) defines a framework that permits eligible nephrologist to earn financial incentives by demonstrating Meaningful Use of a certified electronic health record (EHR). Established by the HITECH Act as part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, this program creates the opportunity for nephrologists to collect between $44,000 and $64,750 over a five to six year timeframe depending on the path selected.
At a high level, the framework consists of three fundamental steps; acquiring a certified EHR, using the certified EHR to demonstrate meaningful use, and conveying this information to CMS. The stage 1 meaningful use objectives consist of 25 specific measures. The successful nephrologist will report 20 stage 1 objectives to CMS. At Health IT Services Group we have developed an unparalleled expertise in the realm of nephrology and meaningful use.
